Freight Central

The Freight Central App is a robust solution designed to make your packing and shipping operations in Business Central more efficient. It works seamlessly with your own transport, as well as local or international carriers. Enhance its capabilities by extending the app with the Shippit multicarrier integration or custom carrier API integrations allowing you to book freight and print shipping labels at your packing station. With the Tasklet Pack and Ship integration, you can book freight and print shipping labels directly from your mobile computer to the nearest label printer.

How does it work?

The freight order is the central shipping document that captures all the details of shipments and returns. You can create freight orders by simply scanning the document number barcode from various sources such as warehouse shipments, sales orders, sales returns, posted sales shipments, posted sales invoices, purchase return orders, posted return shipments, transfer orders, or posted transfer shipments. Alternatively, you can create the freight order from the source document page.

For each warehouse or location, you can enable available carriers and carrier services. You can only book freight for carriers and services that are enabled. After selecting the packing station, enter the package details like weight and carton dimensions. Book freight and the shipping labels are automatically printed on the label printer attached to the packing station.

Freight Central also allows you to create miscellaneous freight orders from the customer card, vendor card, employee card, contact card, or an address list. This option is ideal for departments or companies without a warehouse to record freight and ship or return goods like laptops, samples, christmas hampers or even contracts.

Barcode scanning:

For maximum efficiency, consider using barcode scanning with a keyboard wedge barcode scanner. This allows you to:

• Create a new freight order scanning the source documents barcode
• Create a new package with height, width and length dimensions populated
• Read the weight from a digital scale
• Book freight and print shipping labels
• Reprint shipping labels
• Cancel freight

License Plating:

License plating is an optional feature. The key benefit of scanning item barcodes is achieving 100% accuracy in verifying the items you pack against the source document, reducing packing mistakes, especially with similar-looking products. License plating is also required when you need to track the contents of a package or meet EDI requirements to use SSCC labels on packages or pallets. Freight Central allows you to consolidate multiple packages into a pallet.
